Congress of IAPMA 2018 - Sofia

PAPER: Conscience and Consciousness
IAPMA Congress 2018
Sofia, Bulgaria | 16 – 20 May 2018

In connection with our 24th congress, IAPMA is organizing two member exhibitions.

Responsive Paper will be dedicated to the handmade and sensory experience of paper art, and Paper Pulse will be dedicated to experimental, innovative, and technological applications of paper, exploring paper and paper art through use of video, installation and other “non-paper” media.

In 2018, IAPMA looks at the conscience and consciousness of paper in the 21st century. As we look at the ethical and moral implications of paper, as a record or document, as a social contract, as an art form, as a craft, we will gain insight into its strengths and longevity. We will examine how the role of paper is changing as we progress towards complete digital communication, as well as its role role as we strive for a more conscious, equal, and aware global society.

As citizens of the world, how can we use paper to affect positive change, social change, environmental change, and technological advances? Please show us with your paper artworks!

Artist must be a member of IAPMA. Must be two- or three-dimensional paper artworks, or time-based media (video, installation, etc) that explores the concept of paper. All techniques accepted (casting, folding, papier mache, pulp painting, encaustic, etc.), and open to all kinds of artwork (book art, collage, paper fashion, jewellery, installation, and more).
